HAWA MAHALBuilt in the dusk of 17th century by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, Hawa Mahal in Jaipur is one of the most distinctive landmarks of India. Being given a shape of the crown of Lord Krishna, this pyramidal palace is a red and pink sandstone construction which rises to five-storeys. From the top, one can have an excellent view of Jaipur. The name Hawa Mahal means palace of winds and the structure is famous for its open windows, which are named as Jharokhas in the local language. Designed as a beehive castle, the interiors of Hawa Mahal are divided into spacious courtyards.
Amber fortThe Amber Fort was built by ‘Raja Shri Maan Singh JI Saheb’ (Maan Singh I) (December 21, 1550 – July 6, 1614) in 16th century. Man Singh, one of the first war chiefs or the trusted general of the Emperor Akbar. Akbar included him among the ‘Navaratnas’, or the 9 (nava) gems (ratna) of the royal court. Man Singh began the construction of a fortress-palace of white and red sandstone i.e. Amber Fort in 1592. He was the Kacchwaha (Rajput) of King of Amber, a state later known as Jaipur.
